Abstract

Maternal figures in fairytales play an integral and dynamic role. Evil stepmothers and wicked witches, hinder the young princess. Villainous images are generally opposed by an older fairy godmother, or the eccentric, yet helpful crone that influence the tales outcome. This website focuses on the portrayal of human maternal figures in fairytales, animated, and retold by Disney. I also note the high presence of dead or missing maternal figures in these films, as well as a brief definition of a fairytale.
